How things have changed, 20-30 years ago Nuclear was the demonic option, generating fierce debate and polarising opinions. Now it seems like the “clean” solution and few people seem to raise objections. Strange – I’m pretty sure I’m safe from waking up one morning and seeing a Nuclear plant filling the horizon. Can’t say the same thing about wind-farns though

    • I am still a little uneasy about nuclear, because if things go wrong they really go wrong – I am not talking about recent events in Japan, but I suppose the potential for human error. It is not easy to put the genie back in the bottle, so to speak. I am however accepting that this is probably the best option balancing carbon emissions, energy security and the environment. I would like to see a mix of nuclear, micro generation at a local level, a greater emphasis on home energy conservation and wind power but off- shore.

Sensible policy for a better Britain – couldn’t have put it better myself
