Long time since I last posted. I have been really busy at work and at home. I still have to post up my trip to Cross Fell yet. Just to say that I am off on a four day trip walking from Shiel Bridge to Glenfinnan with my son William starting this Sunday. Weather does not look too bad but not very warm like last week. If the truth be known it would have been too hot for walking. The NW Highlands were up to 29C.
The route is roughly Shiel Bridge to Kinlochourn- Barrisdale- Soulies-Glendessarry- Glen Pean- Glen Finnan. It should be a good trip. I will write up as soon as I can.

Have a great time Mark, that’s a fabulous route you’ve chosen through some of Scotlands finest scenery. If you’re camping there is a superb spot on perfectly flat grass at the head of the loch by Sourlies bothy. I’m jealous!

Superb area Mark. You will need all of the 4 days to do it justice. Know the area well – first went
there many years ago before it became popular. Even before the Forge pub in Inverie ! New some people who ran a b and b opposite the old pier. Now long gone as is the pier. If for whatever reason you find going into Inverie ( go straight on past the monument and bridge to
Glen D) helpful You will find some good tea rooms. The post office/shop has limited supplies and is
not always open. (I was there in 2010 and the chap who ran it apparently had a Russian girlfriend
and closed on a whim, and jetted off to Moscow ! )
There is a burn for water by the Sourlies bothy and is kept in good nick ( I am a MBA member )
The
fire smokes a lot though. Good sandy beach and lots of mussels. Very good camping spot.
Only thing I will say , If you are walking over the mountains(path limited) from Shiel Bridge To
Kinloch H.(can be iffy in bad weather ) and to Sourlies in 2 days . It will be a bit of a push and you
won’t be able to dally along the beatiful path from KH to Barrisdale , which is well worthwile.

You may have already noted this but the path from Kinlochhourn to Barrisdale is far from flat with 3 significant headlands to climb over with the best part of 2000 foot of ascent in total.Scenery is truly magnificent though and the view of Ladhar Bheinn as you round the headland to Barrisdale is breathtaking
