Arrived back after a 9 hour drive from Shiel Bridge. The walk from Shiel Bridge didn’t quite go to plan. My son forgot his custom-made orthotics (only remembered that he had done so at Glasgow!). I bought him some Superfeet as a temporary measure but after a few days his ankles ached. The original intention was to walk from Shiel Bridge to Glenfinnan, but we changed route for the last leg and walked Shiel Bridge to Kinloch Hourn to Barrisdale to Inverie and caught the boat back to Mallaig. We still had three good days walking in a fantastic landscape, with the sun shining everyday. I will try to write-up as soon as I can, but here are a few photos of the trip.

We were camping at Inverie in May Mark. Sorrry we missed you. I’m trying to organise my photographs and get them up on SmugMug.
Great little campsite. We had it completely to ourselves on the Tuesday night. Look forward to your photos.
That wild camping site looks like the sort you dream of when you’re planning trips. How I wish they were all like that.

Is that two solo tents in the picture? Can’t really see the one in the background, is it the Soulo?
Yes it is a Soulo tent. I have two tents I slept in the Soulo my son in the Power Lizard. Teenagers need their space !
What a terrific walk. I used to stay in the old school house when it was owned by a friend of mine. Thats the last building on the south of the loch before Barrisdale coming from Kinloch Hourn.

Ahhh Knoydart – it’s been on my ‘To go’ list for about 5 years now and still I don’t seem any closer to getting there. Thanks for posting the pics and keeping the inspiration alive. One of these days when my daughter is old enough we will be on a boat round that headland with a tent on the back and ready to hit the wilds for a few days!
